Kicks off Grand Opening with a $15,000 donation to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund
2010 U.S. Open Champion Graeme McDowell’s Nona Blue Modern Tavern opened its second location on the evening of September 14th in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida—home of the PGA TOUR and the renowned TPC Sawgrass.
To kick off the Grand Opening, the Nona Blue team held a Ribbon Cutting, which was attended by the Chamber of Commerce, local residents and business leaders, members of the media and a special guest—two-time Super Bowl winning coach Tom Coughlin. Coach Coughlin was in attendance to receive a donation from Nona Blue for his Jacksonville-based charity the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund.
The week leading up to the Ponte Vedra Beach Grand Opening, Nona Blue raised $15,000 for the TC Jay Fund with their “Practice with a Purpose” soft opening dining. This initiative enabled staff members to practice their service in advance of the opening while raising money for the cause. Meals were complimentary. All gratuity was donated.
“The fact that Graeme and the entire team at Nona Blue made a choice to give back to the community before they even opened for business speaks volumes about the type of organization they are,” said Tom Coughlin. “The Jay Fund is honored and grateful to be the recipient of the generosity of Nona Blue and the Ponte Vedra Beach community.”
“As a company, we want to be immersed in the communities we serve,” explained Graeme McDowell. “Giving to causes and organizations important to the community is a great way to start growing our roots in the area.”
With September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the timing of the Nona Blue Opening and its partnership with the TC Jay Fund couldn’t be more perfect. The TC Jay Fund provides support to families with children tackling cancer. Similarly, Graeme McDowell’s own G-Mac Foundation is to support sick children and their families. Each year, the G-Mac Foundation brings children recovering from serious illnesses and their families from all over Ireland to Florida for a holiday of a lifetime.
Nona Blue Opens in Ponte Vedra Beach
Ponte Vedra Beach residents and visitors are invited to enjoy Nona Blue’s eclectic American cuisine served up in a warm and lively atmosphere. Centering on the wood fired grill, Nona Blue’s eclectic menu has every craving covered—from a burger and craft beer to a New York strip and bottle of Caymus Special Selection. Some of Nona Blue’s guest favorites include the G-Mac & Cheese, Mama’s Meatloaf, Ahi Tuna Steak (fresh from the Hawaiian Islands), Traditional English Fish & Chips, House Brined Double Cut Pork Rib Chop, Slow Roasted Prime Rib and Sweet Cream Cheese Iced Carrot Cake, to name a few.
In addition to enjoying a meal in the restaurant or on the patio, guests can cozy up to the bar and catch the day’s sports events. The bar features 16 craft beers (including a perfectly poured pint of Guinness), an extensive wine list (by the glass and bottle) and “Out of the Blue” specialty drinks, which put a modern twist on classic cocktails.
While the food and drink alone are enough reason to frequent Nona Blue, the atmosphere is at the heart of the experience. “We embrace the spirit of a neighborhood tavern—a place you always feel at home and comfortable whether you’re right off the course, hanging with friends or having dinner out with family,” said Joe Davi, one of the founding partners and veteran restaurateur. “We then polished and modernized the traditional tavern concept by elevating the food and service to a level that could rival a more formal dining experience.”
Nona Blue Ponte Vedra Beach is located in a waterfront, free standing building at the front of the Sawgrass Village Shopping Center and faces Florida State Highway A1A. It occupies 7,148 square-feet of indoor space and 1,564 square-feet outdoors. The address will be 325 Front Street, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082.
